Paris menswear shows close

29/06/2009 18:58:00

The Paris Menswear fashion shows have finished for another season, with Givenchy, Comme des Garcons and John Galliano all closing the final day.

While there was no one overall trend, the shows edged towards school-boy style, with ties and blazers making for a strong look.

Givenchy in particular created a striking show, Vogue.com claimed, with their monochrome collection heavy on white shirts and black trousers with gold accents.

Luxury fashion brand Lanvin went for a similarly daring look, with their men walking down the runway in one pieces belted at the waist and skinny-fit jackets.

British designer Paul Smith, who is famous for his masculine tailoring and attention to detail, kept his catwalk casual with shirts and cardigans providing the staples and the odd summery print hinting to warmer times ahead.

Although men rarely pay attention to catwalk trends, the shows are a useful barometer to see what will likely be fashionable next summer.
